Labour remains one of the biggest challenges facing many sectors, especially hospitality and tourism. Join us for a Business Roundtable with Patrick Weiler, Member of Parliament, to discuss the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program, recent immigration policy changes and what they mean for businesses.
This roundtable is your opportunity to speak directly with your MP about the real-world impacts of new caps, shifting eligibility rules, and the growing complexity of hiring international workers.

- Immigration programs used and the impact of recent changes
- Recommendations to improve access to temporary or seasonal workers

About Patrick Weiler M.P.Before entering politics, Patrick was an environmental and Aboriginal lawyer and international development professional with deep roots in the communities which he has been representing in Parliament since 2019.
During his career, he has supported governments around the globe to improve the management of aquatic ecosystems as well as the governance of natural resource sectors on behalf of the United Nations and other international development agencies. Patrick has represented First Nations, municipalities, small businesses and non-profits on environmental and corporate legal matters within this riding, throughout British Columbia and around the world. Patrick is an alumnus of the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor degree a few years after completing his Bachelor of Arts program at McGill University. Committed to investing in our economy, Patrick understands that responsible development must take diverse viewpoints into account, advance reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, and safeguard our environment to secure a bright future for current and future generations.
Patrick is a strong and knowledgeable voice for credible action on climate change, which includes taking measures to mitigate our greenhouse gas emissions so that Canada meets and exceeds its obligations under the Paris Agreement, building healthier and more resilient communities, and ensuring that Canadian business will seize on the immense economic opportunities in the transition to the clean economy of the 21st century. To that end, Patrick worked closely with the Minister of Environment and Climate Change to pass into law Bill C-12, our net-zero emissions accountability act.
In his second term, Patrick sits on the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development and the Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs, and is the co-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Tourism Caucus where he is advancing action on these important files in the 44th Parliament.
