Summary of Duties:
This position has two tiers Language Resource Worker or Language Teacher - pay and education are reflective of each tier. The position teaches with the support and guidance of a qualified teacher and teaches a variety of subjects such as social studies, math, science, physical education, arts, English, Super Courses, Ucwalmicwts Language, etc.

Key Deliverables and Expectations:

  • Involvement with developing and delivering lessons plans based on course essential learning outcomes
  • Maintain a daybook with lesson plans
  • Records student attendance in class
  • Records, maintains, and updates student achievements data
  • Involvement with assigning students grades and comments for reporting purposes
  • Assist qualified teacher with developing long range plans centered on curricular and essential learning outcomes
  • Regularly communicates with students about their progress
  • Accommodate the needs of students including but not limited to specifications outlines in plans such as IEPs
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

Experience and Attributes:

  • University degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (tier 1).
  • Possession of/or ability to apply for a BC Teaching Certificate (tier 2).
  • TQS Category (tier 2).
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines prioritizes assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Motivated self-starter and with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members.
  • Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector.
