Zero Waste Community Advisor
About AWARE
The Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment (AWARE), established in 1989, is Whistler’s environmental charity. Our mission is to protect the natural environment through advocacy for conservation, climate action, and circular economy practices, while empowering others to join these efforts. We work independently and collaboratively to connect people with nature and build sustainable, climate-resilient communities. Every team member plays a crucial role in driving change within their programs.
Job Description
AWARE is seeking several Zero Waste Community Advisors to work part-time between late May to mid-October, primarily on weekends, with some weekday shifts available during the summer. These stations help reduce waste and divert materials from the landfill as part of AWARE’s waste-related programming.
As a small, dedicated team, we rely on each individual to take ownership of their role and work together to make a real difference. We offer several scheduling options, allowing applicants to select their availability. While we strive to accommodate preferences, applicants should be flexible and willing to work key periods, such as weekends and peak summer events, to help ensure adequate coverage. Shifts are typically daytime, though some evening shifts may be required. This dynamic role allows you to engage with the community and gain valuable experience in environmental stewardship. Training will be provided to help you succeed in the role. The position is based in Whistler, with occasional work in other communities in the Sea to Sky region.

Who You Are
We’re looking for someone who is:
? Hands-On: Not afraid to dive into waste diversion, even when it gets messy, because you understand it's all for the greater cause.
